  17. Major re-release of popular NEXTSTEP document application
  18.  
  19. SPRINGHOUSE, PA, May 15, 1994 --Anderson Financial Systems Inc.
  20. today announced that PasteUp(tm) 2.5, a significant upgrade of the
  21. NEXTSTEP-based page layout and document design application it
  22. purchased from RightBrain Software late last year, will start
  23. shipping the week of May 23, 1994.

  25. "PasteUp has always been viewed as a product with great potential,
  26. but flawed execution," said Gregory H. Anderson, Founder and CEO
  27. of AFS. "This release will give new users a chance to experience
  28. the power and flexibility of Display PostScript in creating rich
  29. documents, and existing users a reason to dust off their disks and
  30. get back to performing real work with the product."

  32. PasteUp 2.5 has undergone three rounds of intensive testing. First,
  33. the core of the product--about 80%--is used in WriteUp(tm), a word
  34. processor that AFS has been shipping since March. Second, a pre-beta
  35. release was used internally to create the 164-page user manual.
  36. Third, the beta release has been tested by 30 existing users with
  37. a variety of old and new documents.

  39. In addition to bug fixes, PasteUp 2.5 contains the following new or improved
  40. features:

  42. Fast text handling and selection
  43. Smart (NeXT-style) word cut-and-paste
  44. Undelete text blocks
  45. All Intel cursor movement and function keys supported
  46. Keyboard-based text selection
  47. Documents 70% smaller in size, load/save three times faster
  48. Better visual feedback for all drag-and-drop operations
  49. Destination ObjectLinks
  50. Import WriteNow and WordPerfect documents (text and formatting, not graphics)
  51. Import RTFD files, including graphics
  52. Support for third-party graphics and text filter services, like ImageAgent
  53. Character Set Panel - gives access to all characters in a font
  54. Proper handling of %%Baseline directive for inline graphics from
  55. EquationBuilder
  56. Dramatically improved spelling and foreign hyphenation
  57. Reorganized, logical menus conform to current NEXTSTEP guidelines
  58. Multitude of small service panels coalesced into a single Inspector
  59. Full support for Services Menu options
  60. Indent markers added to the Tabs Panel ruler
  61. Font Panel still included (with enhancements), no extra charge
  62. On-line help (uses standard NeXT Help Panel)
  63. Reorganized user manual with tutorial chapter

  65. Registered users can upgrade to PasteUp 2.5 from any prior version
  66. for US$69 + shipping/handling. (Orders shipped after October 1,
  67. 1993, will be upgraded automatically at no charge.) New copies can
  68. be ordered at a price of US$695 + s/h (US$295 student). Previous
  69. price quotes will be honored for upgrades and new orders placed
  70. before May 15, 1994.

  72. PasteUp 2.5 ships MAB for Motorola and Intel hardware; an HP PA-RISC
  73. version will be available within 30 days after general release of
  74. that product by NeXT Inc.
